Applications are now open for an exciting PhD studentship in Clinical Trials Methodology at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London. There are two interesting projects to select from:

Project 1: Incorporating Patient-reported Outcomes (PROs) in Early Phase Dose-finding Cancer Trials

Supervisors: Prof Christina Yap (ICR), Prof Johann de Bono (ICR/Royal Marsden Hospital) & Dr Anna Minchom (ICR/Royal Marsden Hospital)

Project 2: Statistical Issues in Design and Analysis of Platform Trials in Cancer

Supervisors: Prof Christina Yap (ICR), Prof Judith Bliss (ICR) & Prof James Wason (Newcastle University)

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a fully funded PhD in Trials Methodology with a generous stipend, currently £21,000 per annum, as well as having tuition fees (both UK and EU/overseas) and project costs paid for the three year duration (with extension of up to 6 further months). Working closely with statisticians, clinicians, scientists and the clinical trials team at the ICR and external collaborators, both projects will provide unique and exciting opportunities to equip the PhD student not only with the skills to develop innovative and efficient statistical methodologies, but also to tailor them to real-world trials and apply them in practice.

This ICR PhD studentship will be based at the ICR’s Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU) at the Sutton site and will work within a large group of over 20 statisticians.

The studentship will be awarded on the basis of merit.

Closing date: Friday 10th September 2021 11.55pm UK time.
