Applications are invited for an appointment as Established Professor of Statistical Science in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics at NUI Galway. This is a senior academic position of key strategic importance, and the successful candidate will provide dynamic leadership in education, research, and engagement in Statistical Science. The National University of Ireland Galway is a research-led University, with global reach and an emphasis on interdisciplinary research programmes in key priority areas, and collaborations with industry partners in areas of strategic importance, both regionally and nationally. 

The appointed Professor will work to support existing teaching and research programmes in the School and to harness the potential for growth in Statistical Science research activity, taught programmes and student numbers. S/he will work to build links more generally across the University, including within the School and with cognate areas in Science, Computer Science, Medicine and Health Sciences, Business and Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. S/he will engage with relevant parties on the future development of statistical consulting services across the university and will support the development of NUI Galway’s three strategic pillars: MedTEch, ICT and Emerging Creative Industries. The post holder will be willing and able to serve fixed terms in senior leadership roles such as Head of School.
