The Sociedade Portuguesa de Estatística (SPE) and the Universidade do Algarve have the pleasure of organizing the XXII Congress of SPE (SPE 2015), 7-10 October 2015 at the Congress Center of Ria Formosa, Olhão, Algarve, in the south of Portugal.
The national congress of SPE is the premier event on Statistics and Probability in Portugal attracting researchers, practitioners, and students, predominately Portuguese. The official language is Portuguese.
This congress aims to provide excellent opportunities for networking, learning, and debating the methodological and applied research on probability and statistics.
The Congress will be preceded by a short course entitled “Introdução à Estatística Bayesiana Computacional” lectured by Maria Antónia Turkman and Carlos Daniel Paulino, from the Universidade de Lisboa.
The scientific program of SPE2015 will include organized thematic sessions (already confirmed: bioinformatics, education, environment, health, marine sciences and social sciences), contributed sessions (oral or poster) and plenary sessions given by four invited speakers:
– James W. Taylor, University of Oxford, United Kingdom
– Luzia Gonçalves, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal
– Manuel Scotto, Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal
– Peter Müller, University of Texas at Austin, United States of America
All participants, and their registered accompanying persons, are invited to participate in the Gala Dinner and Social Events.
For a few days of intense statistical socializing is with great enthusiasm that we invite everyone to participate in the XXII Congress of the SPE in the Algarve where, “beyond the sea mystery and the sun miracle” (Miguel Torga, Portuguese poet), one can “look at the huge stars shining through the almond trees” (Raúl Brandão, Portuguese poet)).
