Outstanding students are invited to apply for a Ph.D. fellowship within the Geospatial Statistics and Health Surveillance Group led by Dr. Paula Moraga (www.paulamoraga.com) at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

Potential thesis topics include the development of innovative statistical methods and computational tools for health and environmental applications including disease mapping, early detection of disease outbreaks, integration of spatial and spatio-temporal data, and the development of R packages for data analysis and visualization. Examples of research projects are in our research page (www.paulamoraga.com/research).

Selected students will work under the supervision of Dr. Paula Moraga and will interact closely with collaborators in the Statistics program (http://stat.kaust.edu.sa) and around the world, and will be provided with generous travel funding to attend conferences and workshops.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field, as well as excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
