Key responsibilities

Selection criteria
· A MSc degree;
· A special focus on mathematical statistics or probability theory;
· An interest in programming is desirable;
· Excellent grades and good reference letters.

Terms and conditions
We offer a full-time, fixed-term PhD position for 4 years, with appointment for the initial period of 1 year. After 1 year, the appointment can be extended with a fixed-term period of 3 years. The salary starts with a gross amount of €2.125,- per month and ends with a gross amount of €2.717,- per month in the 4th year in accordance with the pay scale for PhD students, part of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. Additional budget allows for research visits abroad and conference attendance.

All our PhD students are embedded in the Leiden University Graduate School of Science . Our graduate school offers several PhD training courses at three levels: professional courses, skills training and personal effectiveness. In addition, advanced courses to deepen scientific knowledge are offered by the research school.
