Call for postdoctoral positions in the Department of Probability and Statistics at CIMAT, Guanajuato, Mexico
The Department of Probability and Statistics at CIMAT (www.cimat.mx) calls for candidates to fill postdoctoral research positions within these two areas.
The Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas(Mathematics Research Center, CIMAT) in Guanajuato, Mexico, is a CONACYT (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología; National Council of Science and Technology) research center. Its main goals are to foster research and apply scientific knowledge in the areas of mathematics, statistics and probability, and computer science.
The Probability and Statistics Department is composed of 16 full time researchers; 8 in the area of Probability and 8 in the field of Statistics. Visiting professors and postdoctoral researchers are often involved in the work of this research team (www.cimat.mx/es/Probabilidad_
Several postdoctoral positions in Probability and Statistics, for as long as two years, are available to researchers with a solid mathematical background and a recent doctoral degree in cutting-edge areas of Statistics or Probability.
Knowledge of Spanish is not necessary.
Interested researchers must send their applications to Professor Victor Pérez-Abreu (pabreu@cimat.mx), preferably before 30 MAY 2015, when the first part of the selection process begins, attaching the following documents:
1. Updated curriculum vitae.
2. Statement of purpose and the name of potential researchers of the Department of Probability and Statistics of CIMAT with whom there is an interest to collaborate.
3. Two letters of recommendation that must be sent directly to Professor Victor Pérez-Abreu (pabreu@cimat.mx).
4. Possible date to start the position (between August 2015 and August 2016).
