Applications are open for a PhD studentship at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London. This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a fully funded PhD in Statistics and Medical Imaging in cancer clinical trials with a generous stipend, currently £21,000 per annum, as well as having fees and project costs paid for the four-year duration. This project is funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at the Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) and ICR.

This PhD is multi-disciplinary with supervisors from radiology and medical statistics background. The successful candidate would split their time between the ICR teams of Quantitative Biomedical Imaging and the Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU), and would join a large multidisciplinary research group, benefitting further from interaction with external leading experts in the field.

Eligibility: The scheme is open to nationals from all countries. The project would suit a candidate with strong statistical and computational skills. The candidate would be highly numerate with a keen interest in developing and applying statistical methodology to complex multidimensional and correlated data. Candidates must already have been awarded a first-class or second upper class honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science. A Master’s degree or equivalent in medical statistics or a related quantitative discipline, or experience working with quantitative imaging biomarkers would be desirable.

The studentship will be awarded on the basis of merit to commence in Autumn 2021.
