Salary: Grade 8 £44,045 to £49,553 per annum
Closing date: midnight on 24 Feb 2020

Role:
In this role you will independently undertake methodological research to inform the design and analysis of studies undertaken by NIHR ARC East Midlands as part of the Data2Health (health Data Science) theme. The methods of interest include evidence synthesis, design and analysis of efficient pragmatic clinical trials and observational studies and modelling of the natural history of disease/prognosis using real world evidence.

The clinical themes ARC EM focuses on include: (i) Building Community Resilience and Enabling Independence; (ii) Mental Health and Wellbeing; (iii) Managing Multimorbidity. There are also three-cutting themes:(i) Translating and Implementing Sustainable Service Improvement; (ii) Ethnicity and Health Inequalities; (iii) Data2Health. Additionally, ARC EM will also lead nationally on research into black and minority ethnic communities and multimorbidity thanks to its expertise in these areas.

The Data2Health theme will focus on methodological translation – ensuring that appropriate, innovative and fully evaluated methods are used to inform the design and analysis of ARC EM research studies. It will also ensure maximal use of existing large-scale linked data resources to address important questions for patients, the public and care services, both locally and nationally.

You will liaise with other applied health researchers from both within ARC EM and across the national network of ARCs, as well as researchers in Health Data Research (HDR) UK, to ensure the methodological research conducted is of relevance and the results are disseminated and implemented.

Person specification:
With a PhD (or equivalent) and/or relevant research experience in developing statistical methodology for applied health research, you will be able to demonstrate a growing research record of international standing. You will have excellent communication skills which you use to seek out opportunities for collaboration both internally and externally.
