Clinical strengths of our collaborators include colorectal surgery, mental health, primary care, and women’s health. Our methods research addresses challenges in the design, conduct, and analysis of pragmatic trials and trials of complex interventions, including innovation in the design of cluster randomized and stepped wedge trials, as well as pilot and feasibility studies. The PCTU’s scientific team currently numbers 14 statisticians and five health economists.

The post-holder will provide significant input to the design of collaborative projects, and the role will help to underpin excellence in all aspects of the Unit’s research and operations. There will also be opportunities to pursue your own methodological research.

The PCTU is hosted within the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health, located in Whitechapel in the heart of London’s east end. The Centre brings together some of the UK’s leading researchers, practitioners and educators in a vibrant, multidisciplinary group, including those with backgrounds in general practice, biostatistics, medical sociology, immunology, genetics, public health, nursing, bioethics and psychology with the aim of delivering world-leading research and education to inform and support local, national and global primary care and public health.
