Valencia,  January 23th-28th, 2017.

The Statistical Ecology Modeling Group (SMEG) jointly with the Valencia Bayesian Research group (VaBaR) are organizing the 1st edition of the course “Modeling species distributions: methods and applications”, which introduces the fundamental concepts underpinning the «so-called» species distribution models (SDM). The course describes some of the most prominent methods currently in use both from a frequentist and a Bayesian approach. Throughout the course, the lectures will emphasize the limits and strengths of the species distribution model algorithms, and will be also focus on the use of presence-only, presence/absence and abundance models. The students will have the opportunity to learn how to run SDMs with the R and INLA software (http://www.r-inla.org/).
