Dear all

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant to join a highly interdisciplinary team investigating the social, ecological, and economic dynamics associated with marine harvesting. The aim is to build simulations capable of informing policy, based on a deep understanding of agents operating within this system, using Bayesian optimisation procedures, and the development of state-of-the-art decision-simulation approaches. Modelling work at Oxford will be combined with empirical behavioural studies of decision-making agents, with the possibility of brief data gathering missions in California and Indonesia.

The position requires competence in quantitative methods (ideally including probabilistic machine learning), and some experience in theoretical or empirical aspects of decision-making research. A doctorate in a relevant subject with a significant quantitative component is a requirement and we encourage applicants with a strong desire to apply their skills to real-world problems, while seeking deep understanding of the systems and agents studied.

This post is fixed-term for 2 years, with a possible extension to 4 years.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 12 October 2015, and interviews will be taking place week commencing 19 October 2015. More details are available here:
