Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with strong statistical skills to join our team. The fellow will play a central role in our ongoing project examining health outcomes related to heat exposure in urban and rural communities in Alabama. The fellow will take a leadership role in development of data analysis methods for working with diverse sets of data (e.g. health records, geographic and meteorological datasets, and transcriptomics), with an aim for elucidating health effects related to climate change and different land use patterns. The fellow will be in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, with opportunities for collaborative work with researchers at Johns Hopkins University Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, Virginia Tech Department of Statistics, and other relevant Centers and Departments across the Virginia Tech campus.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in biostatistics, statistics, applied or biomathematics, bioinformatics, engineering or related field. Candidates should have strong programming skills (R, SAS, or Matlab) and excellent communication and collaborative research skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Priority will be given to candidates who have demonstrated analysis experience in spatial epidemiology.
