Applications are invited for a lectureship in the Mathematics of Data Science. The University of Edinburgh and the School of Mathematics are partners in a consortium that will lead the UK’s Alan Turing Institute, a major initiative that will drive research and investment in the data science area in coming years. We seek an outstanding candidate with either an existing track record of high-quality research in an area which is related to data science, or strong evidence of high research potential. The post is open to all areas of data science, and in particular this strongly includes the area of Statistics. It is an exciting time at the University of Edinburgh which, as well as being a member of the Alan Turing Institute Joint Venture, has recently expanded its Statistics group with multiple appointments (including Ruth King to the Thomas Bayes Chair of Statistics). The successful applicant will be expected to carry out independent research and to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Closing date:  5pm GMT on Tuesday 14th April  2015 and the post is available at a mutually agreed date from 1 August 2015.

Informal enquiries of a statistical nature can be made to Colin Aitken (c.g.g.aitken@ed.ac.uk)

The role is grade UE08 and attracts an annual salary of £38,511 to £45,954.
